Records of three branches of the League of Women Voters (LWV) in Chester County, Pa., including the Chester County League of Women Voters, the League of Women Voters of the West Chester Area and the Southern Chester County League of Women Voters. The collection has been split into two record groups the first containing the records of the Chester County League of Women Voters and the League of Women Voters of the West Chester Area. The collection has been split into two record groups, the first containing the records of the Chester County League of Women Voters and the League of Women Voters of the West Chester Area. Record group two contains the records of the Southern Chester County League of Women Voters. The collection documents the local growth of the League from advent of women's enfranchisement in the early 20th century to involvement in the civil rights era of the 1960s and early 1970s. Locally the League became involved with various social issues, including substandard housing in West Chester. The collection contains a variety of administrative documents like minutes, reports, announcements and correspondence. The bulk of correspondence relates to general League business sent to League members. The collection also includes literature and information on social and political issues related to the League's work. The bulk of the subject related material can be found in RG2 but is scattered throughout the collection. Also includes publications from the national League as well as publications from the local Chester County branches.
